Specialist

Neurology specialists are generally employed in specialty practices or clinics. They also work in medical research and teaching at universities or private institutions. In Germany, more than 7,500 doctors work in the field of neurology, of which around 3,500 are women. Neurologists treat diseases of the nervous system. These include, for example, stroke, brain hemorrhages, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, migraines, meningitis and brain tumors. First, they question the patient about his complaints, symptoms and medical history.

Career

As a sole practice owner, a neurologist earns €155,000 in net income, with an income of €282,000. Since many neurological diseases are still incurable, medical teaching and research represent another extremely important and promising field of work.

Duration

The training period in neurology lasts a total of 60 months, which corresponds to a period of 5 years. This is completed by a person authorized to provide continuing education at a training facility in accordance with Section 5 paragraph 1 sentence 1 of the Model Continuing Education Regulations.

Futur

One of the most interesting specialist fields with high development potential, neurology is one of the medical specialties that has developed most rapidly in recent years. While numerous new treatment options have been approved for inflammatory/neuroimmunological diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis spectrum diseases optics, diseases associated with MOG or myasthenia gravis, first progress has been achieved in other areas. Causal therapy for spinal muscular atrophy, the first antibody approved in America for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia, and thrombectomy for the treatment of stroke are some examples. Furthermore, recent work on the treatment of brain tumors shows promising approaches. In this regard, neurology can be seen as one of the most interesting fields with high development potential. For me personally, the charm of this sector remains intact even after many years. In the various subcategories I would now like to take you along with me to discuss the latest developments in various diseases.
